I take a lot photographs and make them into cards with a poem on
the back. For the last few years I’ve also done calendars with
a photo and poem for each month.
They are for sale at craft fairs and open house occasions.
I’ve also been collaborating with digital artist Pat Hodson and sound artist . This has resulted in two DVDs where I have written a poem in response to Pat’s images and Jessica has created a sound track using my reading of the poem and adding music and sound.
Tree in Snow
Leaves from the old year, brown and crisp,
hold on to sunlight, melting the snow
into a green grass shadow.
The other trees offer bare branches
to winter and the new year.
I stride the green rim of England at Beachy Head
wary of the scalloped overhang, close enough
to watch the sea's claws scratch the pebbles,
its milky tongues of foam catlick the beach,
curl into the meringue-white cliffs.
Outside the Beaubourg, fountain and water,
toyshop-bright with plastic: Tinguely's
elephant head, balanced on its own reflection,
gives us a bouncing, sideways glance.
